What is a Birth Doula?

Birth doulas are women trained to accompany families in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. Doulas provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, soothing touch, positioning and other techniques for comfort. Doulas, work for you, not your caregiver or hospital.
Before labor: The Guava Care Doula will meet with you and your partner at least once before labor to become acquainted, to explore and discuss your priorities and any fears or concerns, to define your birth plan and to plan how we might best work together. She also want to know your own best ways of copy with pain and fatigue and how you and your partner foresee working together.
The doula certainly remain in touch by telephone and/or email.
When you are in labor: Call your Guava Care Doula when you think you are in labor. She can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone. She will decide if she should come right then or wait for further change. Your Guava Care Doula will meet you at your home, the hospital or the birthing center and will remain with you throughout labor and birth.
After birth: Your Guava Care Doula remain with you for one or two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together.
We are available to answer questions about the birth or your baby your Guava Care Doula will meet you within a few weeks to see how you and your baby are doing.
What Doulas do NOT do?
As doulas , We do not:

Perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal exams, and others. I am there to provide only physical comfort and emotional support.

Make decisions for you. I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your birth plan.

Speak to the staff on your behalf. I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak directly to the clinical staff.
Birth doula package $1500
One prenatal visit (2 - 3 hours)
Getting to know one another, creating a birth plan, aligning on birth goals, hand on birth prep, creating a tool kit for labor (affirmations, positions, and physical touch)
Continuous support upon labor and delivery
I will join you whenever and however labor begins, support you through welcoming your baby, and provide 2-3 hours of post-delivery support. Includes help with first breastfeeding and support through your golden hour.
One in-home postpartum visit (2-3 hours)
We will discuss our journey together and make space for the emotional, physical, and spiritual journey that is birth. I can answer questions about the birthing person’s recovery, new born care, safe sleep, and more.
Also included:
Unlimited phone, email, and text support upon contract and back up support from additional on-call Doula
